John happened to have a wood finisher working in his home. The wood finisher, who is also an inventor, developed a drop cloth with rubberized dots that caused the drop cloth to hold fast to the wood floors and stairs he was working on. Impressed with this ingenius concept, John immediately bought several of these drop cloths and began showing them to his friends, including Mike, who had also done work at John’s home. Everyone who saw the product immediately loved it. Mike was particularly impressed, having struggled using conventional drop cloths in his business for many years. John and Mike continued showing people the new product, including homeowners, retail store owners and other contractors, and came to the conclusion that this was a product that was needed in the marketplace. They proceded to buy the patent and founded CoverGrip™ Corp., and began manufacturing and marketing the product that would change drop cloths forever.
